Scout Regalia is a Los Angeles based, multitasking design practice obsessed with the design and fabrication of space, furniture, home products, graphic identities, material processes, and sustainable living. Established in 2008 with Benjamin Luddy and Makoto Mizutani, the design studio is dedicated to supporting local fabricators, and aspires to embody innovation, discipline, and inquisitiveness in all the work that is produced. Embracing both the unassuming and ornamental aspects of design, Scout Regalia celebrates the inherent design of everyday living.

Here's a video of us by Ora Dekornfeld for a Los Angeles Times feature.

Benjamin Luddy is a designer, fabricator and educator. He received his Masters of Architecture degree at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). Benjamin also holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Buffalo. He currently teaches in the Environmental Design Department at Art Center College of Design. His secondary obsession after good design is bicycling and snowboarding.

Makoto Mizutani is a designer and visual communications strategist. She received her Masters of Architecture degree from SCI-Arc and has studied architecture at Kyoto Seika University in Japan. Makoto also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UCLA. Her experience and knowledge in both fields has provided clients with effective and creative communication strategies. She appreciates well-made pecan pies and croquembouche.

Penny is the official Scout Regalia mascot, field scout, security detail, and occasional ruckus raiser. Her daily tasks include catching tennis balls and frisbees in the air, and honing her scent detection skills. Penny is a Belgian Malinois whose work ethic and obsession to detail is right in line with the Scout Regalia ethos. You can follow her shenanigans on instagram, twitter, and facebook.
